Here is an important update for our social application sobees beta! We have been working hard to bring not only huge improvements but also great new features and services.

First of all, we worked on our Twitter service. Thanks to xAuth, we now offer higher security as well as more API calls per hour (350 instead of 150). In addition, and since TwitPic does not support oAuth, your pictures will now be uploaded on Tweetphoto!

We also added two new great services that many of you were waiting for: an RSS reader and New York Times, which lets you read the newspapers’ news and articles directly into sobees!

Lastly, we have now added Riotwise sponsored content to Twitter in this application too. Since it is linked to Twitter’s trending topics and to your own search query in the Search, this sponsored content is highly interesting! No need to worry however: for now, and until we release the premium version of sobees beta, you will be able to disable these ads. Therefore, simply head to the Options.

We have always been doing our very best to provide you with the best applications on the market and are really excited to share such good news with you. We hope you will enjoy this new update!

Update : The option for removing sponsored content from the timeline was unfortunately not visible in the options. We just released an update to fix that (version 0.8.1.5). Make sure to get the latest version if you want to remove the sponsored content and then go in Options – General).

Great news for sobees: today we are releasing our first mobile application!

After having developed a desktop social client, a web-based one as well as applications for you to follow various events, it seemed natural to move on to the mobile world.

sobees does not primarily focus on Twitter, which is only one service out of the many we provide. We started sobees with the vision of consolidating information and social networks in a client, making it easier to interact with social media. Regardless of the device or service sobees helps you find the most relevant, important and interesting information from your world. With the web becoming a stream and all the services providing activity streams, our initial vision is becoming reality.

Our Yahoo! Mail application, My Social Networks, just got an update!

While this application hadn’t changed since we launched it, back in December, we have been working a great deal on sobees and sobees web, bringing huge improvements, tons of new features and great new services. This all had to be implemented in My Social Networks, and this release is therefore an important one!

Yahoo_update_linkedin2

First of all, we have added LinkedIn to the application! So those of you who use this social network will, from now on, be able to update your own status and get others’ updates, view connections and profiles and search LinkedIn.

Apart from that addition, we worked on improving the existing services, most particularly the Twitter one which now includes lists as well as the official retweet APIs.

Thanks to the Twitter lists, you will not have to recreate your groups every single time you launch the application but will instead find the very ones you created on www.twitter.com .

Regarding the retweet functionality, it will now display the avatar of both the person who is being retweeted and the one who is retweeting instead of the usual RT@username. However, should you click within the text entry field, you will recover the old way of retweeting.

My social network is available for the approximately 29 million users in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy so if you have a Yahoo! Mail account, don’t hesitate to try and launch our application and enjoy these brand new improvements!

We've just released a minor update to sobees beta that includes a variety of fixes and improvements.

We have, among others, fixed the bug regarding the “Send report” functionality. You will now be able to report the bugs and issues you come across in sobees directly from the application (Settings > Support).

In addition, a few users thought it to be confusing to have a reply button when reading a DM (which resulted a few times in their replying publicly to a private message). We therefore removed this possibility, but you will of course still be able to reply to a direct message by using the DM button.

We also fixed the API consumption and the @autocomplete.

We hope you will enjoy these improvements, and do not hesitate to use the now well-functioning “Send report” option if you encounter any problem. We will do our best to help you!

Update: We just released another update to fix Facebook connection (API Change) and empty Twitter home.

We recently started developing applications for events to help you combine official and relevant pieces of information with your social networks – a new way to follow an event. Today, we are launching two of these applications: sobees for SXSW and sobees for MIX10 .

Our sobees event application aggregates:
  • Flickr photo stream
  • Google news
  • Twitter real time search
  • Official RSS feed from the event
  • Official Twitter messages from the event
  • And your Twitter / Facebook account(s), so that you will be able to update your status on your social networks directly from the application!

However, we wanted to do more than simply aggregate random information regarding the conferences: we wanted to add relevance, which is the reason why we partnered with SalsaDev for these new applications. Concretely, they help us analyze the most recent Twitter messages containing #SXSW / #MIX10 and provide you with the trending keywords of each conference. So, no need to be disappointed if you cannot come to the conference, thanks to sobees for SXSW / MIX10 you will be able to follow the event without having to leave you computer!
And if you do attend SXSW, well, come and visit our booth, we’ll be happy to see you!
